Emmy notices that gloomy look on Hareta’s face so she quickly changes the topic.

Emmy continues, “Wow, I see that you are very proud to be a Saks worker. Anyways, I think you pay a lot of attention on your son’s education. Why don’t you come to church with me? The church I go to every week is English-speaking. Everyone who goes there is either banker, lawyer, ABC or some sort of professional. The atmosphere is very open. You can send your kid to the playgroups to make some English-speaking friends. What do you think?”

Hareta is thrilled to hear that. Don’t you remember that her intention is to get close to her “imaginary” frenemy and find out her weaknesses to steal all from Emmy? That works perfect to Hareta’s plan.

Hareta acts rather calm and sits still. She continues, “Oh, church? I am not baptised and I don’t know any of your church friends. I am going to look odd…….”

Emmy says, “Don’t be silly. We welcome newcomers like you. We are all very kind and friendly. You would love to go there.”

Hareta says, “Okay. Sounds good, I guess.”

Emmy says, “Our church is in Taikoo. The name is Island ACC. The caregroup I used to attend is called Lotus, which meets every Thursday. But I need to change group to fit my son’s tutorial schedule so I will transfer to Tesla next week. Why don’t you come with me to Tesla?”

Hareta says, “Care? Care what again?”

Emmy says, “It is the fellowship meeting of Island ACC. They meet every week to study Bible. Just come with me. You just have to keep in mind that you are Tesla Care. I know the name is a bit hard to remember. Care Groups are all named after car manufactuers. There is a group named Mini Cooper, for youngsters and youths. Your son can join it. There is a group for professional male members, namely the Hummer. The Care Group in the Central Western District is Posche. The one in Shouson Hill is Volvo. The group for Taiwanese and Koreans is Hyundai. Anyways, you are Tesla, no doubt.”

Hareta shows a rather cunning smile on her face. She must have thought that Emmy is so trusting towards her, a complete stranger. Hareta is an atheist. She has no interests whatsoever towards religion or church. What’s up with the God, she does not give a shit. If there is truly an omnipotent Upper Hand, why would someone as idiotic as Emmy be able to achieve what she has? Why is a girl as kind as Hareta pathetically widowed? Is this world ever fair? Why does Hareta work like a serverely underpaid slave for just 30,000 HKD a month? And why is Hareta’s son labelled as a special needs child?

If God really does exist, such imperfect things should not happen. Why does Emmy go to church anyways? She is lucky enough to have everything that anyone could ask for. Comparatively, Hareta is like floating spirit in hell tortured in endless pains and undying agony. She thinks to herself, “Wait til that day I take everything away from you, Emmy Ran. I will get there!”
