Hareta thinks she knows Emmy from inside out. True, she really does have spent some time to get to know Emmy’s background, hobbies and interests. In her eyes, Emmy is just a somewhat attractive woman fortunately born in a bourgeois family with the luck of a rather hustle-free life. A bit spoiled, Emmy is still a gentle sweetheart. Hareta always compares herself with Emmy because she thinks she can even surpass Emmy. Hareta is more ambitious, aggressive and competitive than Emmy, isn’t she? Yes, if you insist to judge a janitor against a CEO, you can say that they are equal. Well, according to Hareta’s logic, they work in the same company and reside in the same district. They should not be evaluated differently according to their social status. That’s how Hareta reasons. She always thinks very highly of herself without any self-awareness. She does not like how Emmy seems to have everything that Hareta has only wished for.
Hareta was raised in the slums of Wanchai. Coincidentally, Emmy also was born in Wanchai. This makes Hareta even more jealous of how Emmy is doing so much better than her. Hareta went to Plum Hill Government School and she subsequently got into a rather decent public school, Tin Hau Ladies College. Her CE results were just okay. But for some reasons, she still successfully got into Fu Dan University and LSE. On the other hand, Emmy went to Matilda Convent School in North Point for elementary and secondary education up until F.2. She then transferred to the renowned Eton Co-educational College in the same district and completed her HKCEE and IB there. Emmy’s husband, Ackley, went to Fuking University St. Yuk Keung in the same district. He was the head boy of his year. This couple’s romantic relationship is like a legend among their peers. Hareta envies them because she does not believe such a perfect match can exist outside of heaven. Nevertheless, she believes that Emmy must have her weaknesses and she is determined to find out what Emmy lacks.
Hareta uses a tactic that probably anybody in the street can think of: know your enemy. From as early as her numerous times of wandering around the Chin house, she has hacked into the wifi network of the Chin family to hopefully get some private insider information of the couple. However, she also inadvertently finds out that they have another secretive network when she drops by Chin’s house that day. The official wifi network of the Chin family is called “hommesuitehomme”. She easily cracked their password, which is an unbearable iloveyou4ever. Hareta thinks that these rich people must have a very easy life without any pains and struggles to have devoted so much time in confessing their love for each other. It is so disgusting.
However, their second wifi network is encrypted. She only knows that it is called achin5354. She tries to crack the password numerous times but fail. She is guessing that may have been their neightbour’s network. She has not paid too much thought on this and moves on to find out more confidential information about Emmy.
She knew all along that Ackley Chin likes to take photographs of his wife. Ackley’s computer is loaded with countless pictures of Emmy where they attend public functions or go on a beach together. Some of these pictures are quite revealing with Emmy wearing bikinis and Ackley being half-naked.
Hareta thinks to herself, “You don’t have to show off your body even though you are kind of hot. You rich people cannot wait to get everyone jealous of your enviable life. Jesus Christ, someday I will take away her husband and all those who have loved her so she can get jealous of me too. Emmy, smile more while you could! One day, I will make you cry.”
