The church gathering is almost over. But Hareta has not learned anything from it. She studied in government schools throughout her life, without any training in religion. She claims to believe in Jesus and Mother Mary without giving a thought about it. Everyone else is a Christian, so why not? To a complete atheist like Hareta, how much are morales and ethics worth anyways? So, sex trades or luck-fucks are completely okay with Hareta. This is why there are so many conflicts between Chinese new immigrants and Hong Kong natives. Because the new immigrants don’t understand how Hong Kong works. They often betray their souls and engage in sex trades in exchange for benefits.
Emmy is as friendly as usual. But Hareta hates this kind of two-faced Stepford wives the most. First, Hareta is a widow. She has inferiority complex. Second, she thinks that the attention from such a fortunate person who lacks nothing is an act of hypocrisy. Hareta thinks that Emmy is probably the fakest person on earth.
Emmy even tells Hareta what she is up to before she leaves. She says, “My dear, I am going to play poker with a bunch of housewives at Fool Look All Ways in the United Plaza at Prince Edward. Would you come with me?”
Hareta thinks to herself, “Why are you telling me what you are up to? I don’t give a shit about your schedule at all!”
But, she replies, “Enjoy yourself. I don’t play poker. I don’t gamble.”
Emmy says, “Alrighty. I will see you next week, my dear.”
The angrier Hareta gets, the more she is determined to steal Emmy’s husband. She is now plotting to seduce Ackley again next time so he does not ever want to leave her. She believes that sex skills are all that matters for a heterosexual relationship, including marriage. She believes sex skills can get her all the men she wants in this world.
