This is probably the best kept secret among the Ivy League and other top colleges in the states.
Yes, Columbia guys are the hottest on earth.
You may think that an Ivy League guy is a stereotypical white dude with J Crew preppy sweaters and khaki pants, singing in an Accapella group, probably with glasses and sometimes with a book that reads a title we all don't understand.
No, don't let those J Crew, Banana Republic ads deceive you.
Columbia guys don't wear J Crew and Banana Republic.
What do they wear?
They are usually topless.
Yes, hot and muscular without a shirt. That's when they are the sexiest.
Who needs a J Crew sweater to look good?
They already look hot enough without one, without any shirts on top at all.
I am not exaggerating. They do that in the gym, when they are weight lifting.
I come from a small tropical island named Hong Kong. And I have been living on this tiny island all my life.
I have never encountered any hot guys like the ones I met at Columbia, no never ever in my life.
Pleasantly surprised by their hotness, I just didn't realize that actually guys can be that attractive, to that extent! For once in my life, I finally feel attracted to guys. Isn’t that amazing?
How are Columbia guys like?
Most of the hot Columbia guys, mostly from engineering schools, are Asians.
When I say Asian, they are usually east Asian.
Taiwanese, China, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese etc.
Hong Kong does not have a big representation in my school.
Among the Asians, Koreans and Chinese are probably the best looking. And then Taiwanese, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese.
Hong Kong unfortunately is at the very bottom of the hotness chart.
When I say Chinese, they are usually from northern China, meaning either Harbin, Beijing or anything above that.
The Koreans at Columbia are usually very tall. 6 feet or above.
That may account for their hotness.
A typical Korean guy from the engineering school is about 6 feet tall, computer science major or business major (IEOR, FE, OR, IE, EMS).
They like to go to the gym!
Yes, oh my god. I am totally stalking them. Totally.
I never worked out in Hong Kong.
I was too occupied with studying. And also, I simply lacked the motivation to do so.
But at Columbia, omg, I was hitting the gym 4 times a week, more often than I did my reading at Butler or Low.
I loved going to the gym.
Just to check out the hot guys.
The weight lifting area at Dodge Hall is separate from the cardio fitness.
In order to check out the guys, I picked up weight lifting.
Without a trainer. I usually just did a bit of arm lifting and so on.
It's totally worth the muscles I gained.
I do have to say, I am a bit bigger than I used to look. Thanks to the hot guys at Columbia. I have been very motivated to work out.
In fact, hitting the gym had been my favorite activity at Columbia.
As I said, Columbia only has classes around 4 days a week, 3 hours each day on average. That leaves us ample time to do something out of class.
After I finished classes, I usually hit JJ's or Ferris Booth to pick up some sushi for dinner.
Columbia has a lot of Asian food. If you don't like Asian food, you can try John Jay for buffet style options. Some even go to Barnard for Kosher meals.
After I finished my homework, that would be around 8 or 9. No, I would not go to bed that early.
I still had a lot to do on my list, okay?
Like, like checking out the hot guys on campus!!
Strangely, the dodge gym is always so occupied with Asians. They are all undergrads, looking stunningly hot.
With the fact that so many hot guys were working out in my school, I also started to pay more attention to my looks too.
I started a body building program. Lost a bit of weight.
Rumor has it that I had plastic surgery in China.
Whatever they would like to say, it was all baseless.
But I do have to say Columbia people are good looking. The girls are very trendy and attractive. The guys are nothing less!
You can say that Columbia is a superficial school.
We are wealthy, good looking, smart, trendy and we take great care of our looks.
If you say Columbia is superficial, hey, Wharton is superficial too.
Maybe the entire Wall Street is superficial.
And like the entire New York Manhattan is superficial!
I would not mind having a bit of eye candy after school every night.
I usually hit the gym at around 9, stayed until 10.30ish. Then I would go home for a quick shower and sleep.
I was a bit intimidated at first. But after a while, I realised that actually many people are professional body builders at Columbia.
It is definitely a thing here at Columbia. My friend Jonathan even hired a personal trainer.
My favoriate workout song was Jay Chow's 晴天.
I remember doing a lot of heavy lifting and cycling listening to that song.
I don't know why I was so drawn to this song when I worked out.
Maybe because I felt very sad to see so many hot guys in school.
And for the first two years of college, I was dating someone from Yale, who looked nothing like them!
I was very sad.
That song captured my mood at the gym.
I often thought to myself, I wished I didn't grow up in Hong Kong.
If there is anything I would like to change about myself, it would not be my looks, my accents, or my strengths or talents.
It would be Hong Kong.
I want to cross that off in my profile. Like write it off completely, like a distressed asset. I don't like the fact that I come from Hong Kong. This idea has gotten a lot stronger and has fixated on my mind since the day I stepped onto the Columbia campus. I don't like the place I came from. I like nothing about my hometown.
Why did my mother give birth in Hong Kong?
If I was born in Beijing, Harbin, Korea, Japan, New York, New Jersey, I think I would be much happier.
I don't like Hong Kong.
Wait, did I tell you this? I met my husband at the gym freshman year.
