So I bought my first Green and White ball tickets through Jeff Leung. It was more than twenty years ago already. I was wearing a leather spaghetti strap from Esprit that was around up to my collar bone with a khaki skirt that covered up to my knees. I made sure that it was pleasant and appropriate for the occasion, nothing too sleazy, or revealing. After all, it was a school that was just across the street from SPCC. I could very likely run into anyone I met there on any day, after school or lunch break.
I was stealing my mother's foundation from Shiseido. I didn't own any cosmetics at the time because I was too young. I did remember having a few low quality eye shadows from Red Earth though. It was better to not wear them because they didn't blend well with my face. Sharon also wore something nice that day. She liked to show off her outfits ever since grade 1. I once wore a pair of red velvet pants with silver silk shirt when I dropped by her home in grade 5 one day, just to avoid any conflicts with her. And she seemed to remember my looks forever, going around making fun of my styles even years after.
That night was eventful. It was quite a scene. When I said eventful, I didn't mean people were checking me out like crazy. It was quite the opposite. Like that La Salle ball with Rita, I was sitting idle almost the entire night. Nobody really approached me but Sharon seemed to have garnered much attention from the guys that night quite successfully. She got quite a few guys asking for her phone numbers. I had my hair down that day so I made sure I looked decent and I was quite sure my appearance was not the turn off factor.
Sharon said she had too many guys waiting in line to invite her to dance so she came over and asked me to be around her so I could ward off any guys she didn't seem interested in. So I did, and she received a few roses that night. She said she didn't need that many, so she gave me one as a present, since no one bought me any flowers that night. I gladly accepted her gift. Why not? Wouldn't women all welcome flowers, even if it was given by your girl frenemy?
Some time towards the second half of the ball, there was this thing where they had to pick a few people from the hall to be voted as the Green and White ball queen of the night. Of course, I was not invited. As far as I remembered, Sharon was not invited either. But I saw someone I knew up at the stage. It was Jessica (Onza). She was the girl whom Rex was aggressively going after. I was quite surprised to see her there. Not just because she was someone in my year from my school, but she was wearing something very promiscuous. She was wearing just a bra and she was on stage so everyone could see that. It would be better if she didn't go up there and just stay on the dance floor because the lighting was rather dim.
To be exact, she was wearing a white bra top with her belly and entire upper torso exposed. To make it worse, she was wearing a pair of black leather hot pants. She looked very desperate. She really deserved a prize for that.
Besides Jessica, there was another girl whom I considered okay pretty on stage. She was elected the ultimate ball queen of the night in the end. I didn't remember her partner's face, because I was not paying much attention but I remembered the girl was decent looking, in a pony tail with fair skin and a fit body. She also said that she went to Canadian International School.
More than a year after that night, I found out who that Green and White ball queen was. She was Kary Ng from Cookies. Her partner that night, Edward Leung, became my friend at LPCUWC, living in the same dormitory block. He told me that we had met before even prior to LPCUWC. I was puzzled until he confessed to me that he was that ball queen's partner that night and the girl was Kary from Cookies (she already debuted at the time). I secretly found him very attractive, second only to Ian Chan, who was also a resident from St Joseph in Block 1 at LPCUWC. Ian Chan transferred from Cornell to Columbia in his junior year.
