I really should give Sharon some credits for her perseverance and determination. Not surprisingly, she was able to track down and locate all the high net worth individuals, whether younger or significantly younger than her age, on the east coast. Just to name a few people whom Sharon tried to introduce me to, Eugene and Edwin from two of the largest real estate developer families in Hong Kong. Everyone knew real estate developers were like the kings of Hong Kong, no doubt about that. Eugene only attended the primary school of SPCC, same with Edwin. After that, Eugene went to a boarding school in the US and Edwin too. Eugene attended Babson College for undergraduate and Edwin went to NYU. Eugene was said to have a crush on Clairol, when they went to the same summer school in Switzerland. Edwin actually went out in an official relationship with my college friend from Columbia, Emily Lam, also from a tycoon family. It was a very small world, especially when you escalated up the social ladder. That summer before college, Sharon asked Eugene and Edwin to join our dates just to show off that she had friends among the ultra rich. Edwin said he found Sharon pretty during our conversation too. Actually, I heard that she befriended almost every single student from Hong Kong among the boarding schools. To make it worse, she tried to smear my reputation among these students even before I got to know them. To be honest, most of these people were like total strangers to me but Sharon thought that she could have the upper hand among the rich if she acted way before me.
The HK student circle in the states, especially that on the east coast, was a small one. I heard what she said about me from a friend of mine from SPCC. It was Ian Wen, not Ian Chan from St Joseph. But Ian also went to Columbia, the same year as me. Ian told me that Sharon told everybody she knew that I was an elitist, that I only would date guys from the Ivy League schools, because I looked for talents not wealth from an opposite sex. Any guys from Boston College or Babson or Northeastern would not stand a chance to date me because I was hungry for academic showoffs. Okay......thank you very much.
Sharon never really quite understood me, as a rival. What she had done to me was quite a damage to my image and personal brand but she wouldn't stop from there. She tried to cloud the issue by playing victim. Luckily, Sharon was not very strategic, as with her many other things in life. It was quite obvious to her "friends" that she was too desperate to break into that upper circle, trying to tear me down just because she was worried that I had that magic power to make people turn their backs on her. I could, I totally could but I didn't. It was her own flaws and hubris that created her unpopularity. I didn't do anything at all. I was just a spectator.
In Chinese, we had a phrase for this situation. It was called "the empty city scheme" invented by Zhuge Liang during the Three Kingdoms. There were no high net worth bachelors worthy of marriage when I went to SPCC. Those who studied abroad on the east coast left the school way before I got in and they probably left their alma maters for the same reasons I left SPCC. There were already too many desperate young girls hoping to fish for a rich bachelor in the school and Sharon was just among one of them. If not Sharon, there would be no way for me to even get to know people like Eugene or Edwin in person because we didn't go to the same school at the same time. So I should thank Sharon for that, after all the slander and libel.
Whatever she was intending to do, I heard she acted like a nomad now. Last time I talked to her, she said she wanted to commit suicide again, because her family was evicted a few times and she finally found a tiny apartment on Star Street with her 60K salary package. She invited me to her place, offering me a glass of white wine, trying to make me jealous. But Sharon, no I would never be jealous of you because you were just a moron. I believed it was all karma. But my drama with her would not just stop from there.
